Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023

in Jan 24, 2023

What’s up everybody and welcome to the New Year! With the new year in full effect comes the start of fashion shows and first to lead off is Paris Fashion Week bringing us a look into what’s hot and trending for Fall/Winter 2023. And let me say… oversized, oversized, oversized!

This is just what I like...hahaha! Along with the oversized aesthetic, came a lot of pleated pants, puffer jackets, technical details and lots of patchwork, which is another favorite of mine hahaha. With that being said, let’s get right into a couple of the designers and brands that caught my eye throughout the week.

Leading off was Louis Vuitton FW23 Men’s Collection featuring KidSuper’s founder Colm Dillane, who was the house’s first designer to co-design the menswear collection post Virgil Abloh. One thing Colm was bound to bring was wild colors, patchwork and the use of faces and eyes. From the start of the runway, you saw eclectic suiting, exaggerated puffer jackets and super wide leg bottoms. These are a couple of my favorite looks from the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2023 collection.

Next up, stealing Paris Fashion Week FW23, was Japanese designer Maison Mihara Yasuhiro. For this years runway show MMY asked what’s original, what’s fake, what’s a copy, what’s an homage and does it all really matter? Basically, playing off the whole copycat, imitation, bootleg trend that has been building the last few years. To continue the conceptual copycat nature, the collection consisted of faux leather painted to look like real, worn-in leather, a bootleg of his own House sneaker and a nod to The North Face. This collection consisted of plenty slouching shoulders and effortlessly baggy trousers. For me, these are some of the standout pieces of Maison Mihara Yasuhiro’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection below.

And last but not least, to finish off the looks from this year's Paris Fashion Week, was NAHMIAS throwing it back to the ’90s with the “California Poetry” collection. Collaborating with Kodak Black on more than half a dozen garments for the show, the collection was designed as an ode to ‘90s hip-hop and the influences of the culture. Though I’m not the biggest fan of the use of the House mascot, the bunny, throughout the collection (slippers) I do admire the whole laid back, casual California hippy-vibe. From patchwork, California flowers, denim workwear suits and swap meet inspired sweats, I can say these were some of my favorite pieces of the NAHMIAS Fall/Winter 2023 collection below.
